Description : (La description de cette image n'existe qu'en anglais)

Lake Powell, Henry Mountains, Utah April 1998 The northern half of Lake Powell and rugged Henry Mountains can be seen in this west-northwest-looking view. Lake Powell stretches from Lees Ferry in Arizona (not visible on the image) to the Orange Cliffs in Utah, discernible midway between the right center and upper right of the image, where the Colorado River enters into Lake Powell. Though not all visible in this image, Lake Powell is 186 miles (299 km) long and has nearly 2800 miles (4908 km) of shoreline. The rugged, forested Henry Mountains (upper center of the image) are a cluster of small igneous rock intrusions (laccoliths) that have lifted and domed overlying horizontal layers of sedimentary rocks. The Abajo Mountains (midway between the right center and bottom center of the image) are features similar to the Henry Mountains. The San Juan River is visible in the lower left portion of the image. The light-colored, fine patterns at the center and lower right of the image are small “badland’ valleys cut by desert streams into the rocks of the region
